Lake Bled, Slovenia

On Thursday we took off for Slovenia. Unfortunetly none of us checked the weather before we left. We spent the whole weekend in rain. Luckily I threw in my shoes at the last minute because otherwise I would have only had flip flops. Other than that small inconvience we had a great little trip.

We took a row boat out to the island with the church on it. Unfortunetly we got caught in a major down poor on the way back. "Row man Row"

Istanbul Day 4

Sunday morning we took a taxi to a city called Ortakoy. It's just north of Istanbul up along the Bosphoros. They had a little market with hand crafted items. We came across some women who were making gozlemes, they are kind of like crepes, who wanted us to buy one from each of them. We split up so they could each make us one.

We are now home trying to figure out where we want to go next. Our apartment has no gas meaning no hot water or stove for another week. I think we are going to rent a car and take off to Lake Bled, Slovenia on Thursday. Poor us :)

World Traveler, sorry Phil, Scarlett has you beat

Istanbul Day 3

On Saturday we checked out one of the underground cisterns and headed back to the Bazaar. Jared also went to a Hamam were he got scrubbed down and beat around :) That night we enjoyed some more of Ramadan with a street festival.

Are any of you suprised that Jared wanted to get this taken?

Istanbul Day 2

On Friday we checked out the Egyptian market, the Aya Sophia, and the Blue Mosque. In Turkey they are celebrating Ramadan, where they fast from sunrise to sunset for a month so dinnertime right now is a big deal. We had some great Ramadan specials.

Istanbul Day 1

On Wednesday we flew with our friends Kelvin and Susie to Istanbul. We had an awesome trip. Istanbul was amazing. The food was great, the people friendly and the shopping, well let's just say we didn't come home empty handed. The kids were great, they just hung out in their strollers or bijorns while we carted them all over the city.

The first day we checked out the Tokapi Palace and The Grand Bazaar.

Is it really September already?

I can't believe it's September already. It's crazy how fast this summer went. Scarlett is almost 4 months old. Sorry I haven't had much to blog about lately. I just have more pictures of Scarlett to share. Her new "tricks" consist of making farting noises and rolling over. Once she gets to her stomach she's not too happy (see video below). She hasn't quite learned how to roll back over. Our friends Susie and Kelvin come into town on Sunday so I'm sure I'll have more to blog about next week. Enjoy!
