Helsinki Day 3 & 4

Gotta say, I wasn't that impressed with Helsinki. There was not a lot to see or do. And because our trip to St. Petersburg got scrapped we had a little extra time in the area. Oh well, we made the best of it...

We sprawled out on the grass at the Greek Orthodox church. Just imagine snoring as people passed us to go inside :)

Jared wanted to buy reindeer fur, somehow we got out of there without buying any, shucks...

We took a bus up to a little town called Porvoo. It was a great little town built along the river with cobble stone streets and fun shops to explore.

Rhonda hooked Scarlett up with some sweet pj's. This is a pic of Scarlett in the morning after she had woke up and run around for a bit. I guess she wasn't quite ready to wake up after all.

Stockholm Day 2

Next stop, Sweden. 

Our first stop was at the Vasa Museum (probably one of the coolest things I have ever seen) The museum houses the most fully intact 17th century warship that has ever been salvaged. The ship sank on its maiden voyage in 1628 because it was too top heavy. It was preserved by mud until it was brought up and housed at this museum. So cool...

We hopped on a local ferry to tour Stockholm's archipelago. The tourist sightseeing captains were on strike so this was our only way to see them. The ferry took 4 hours round trip stopping at little docks all through out the islands

Copenhagen Day 1

We just got home from a ten day trip from up and around the Baltic Sea. We went on the "poor man's cruise" while my parents traveled in luxury on the Crown Royal Princess. We took planes, trains, ferries and buses trying to meet my parents at each port and ate food that they sneaked off the boat :) We took very little showers and wore the same clothes for most of the trip. That being said we are very happy to be home and clean. All and all we had a great little trip.

Our first day in Copenhagen we rented bikes like true locals and pedaled around the city.

I have to give mad props to Scarlett who is the world's best traveler. She puts up with us parents dragging her around the world at all hours of the day and forgetting that she too needs food. The night before, we arrived to the hotel at 3am. She just went with it finding times to sneak in a little shut eye

We visited Christiania a part of town that declared themselves independent a couple years back after people had been squatting for decades. The place reeked of marijuana and there was reggae music and paraphernalia everywhere you looked. Kind of like Humbolt :) No pictures were allowed inside, so this is the best we could get for you.

We had a great day yesterday celebrating Scarlett's 1st Birthday.

This year has gone by so fast. We have enjoyed every minute of parenting. Scarlett is such a happy baby as long as she is on-the-go. She loves watching people, reading, singing, patty cake, and her tongue. She's not a big fan of having her face washed, closed doors, roomba, bananas and her parents ignoring her on their computers. We can't wait to see what this next year brings. Here are some pictures from her big day.
