Date Night....with Scarlett
Last night we had a fun evening. We went and checked out the ice skaters at the city park, took some pictures at Hero's Square and went to dinner at a little Italian place. You know it's good Italian when you walk in and they are cutting fresh prosciutto and grating parmesan cheese.

Snow, Turkey, and 6 Months
Not a lot happened this past week, other than we got our first snow and it has turned really cold here. Last night we hosted 14 guests to a Thanksgiving feast. I cooked my first turkey and I must say it turned out excellent.
When we put Scarlett's jacket on she can't move her arms in her umbrella stroller, it's so sad.

Yes, we have resorted to putting our child in front of Baby Einstein, it's a beautiful thing
Scarlett has been rolling over for awhile now, but I thought I would capture the experience. My favorite is the last picture when she has decidde she doesn't want to be on her stomach anymore. She hasn't grasped the idea of flipping back over yet.
Scarlett is 6 months TODAY, that's so crazy to think about. She has such a little personality now, she is definitely in control and she knows it. We have started (kind of) sleep training. I have a hard time hearing her cry but I have a harder time functioning on little sleep. Even in the last couple days I have seen an improvement. It also might have something to do with the fact that 3 nights ago she started flipping to her stomach to sleep. Although it's not her stomach so much as a very uncomfortable position of smashing her face into the matress and getting her arms stuck under her body. Either way last night (this morning) she slept from 3am all the way to 8:30am, ah....
Ready for church
Aftering searching all over Budapest for a turkey we finally found one. It was 17lbs (bigger than Scarlett) and it was the smallest one we could find. Every place we tried had turkeys starting at 22lbs. As I was preparing the turkey for it's brine bath I came across a part of the turkey I did not wish to deal with so Jared came to my rescue.
We invited 19 of Jared's MBA classmates for a Thanksgiving Feast (a lot of them obviously Europeans who have never experience such an event). We thought maybe half of them would come, turns out only two couples couldn't make it. It all worked out, we had plenty of food the only dilemma was seating.
We pushed our desk and dining table together which worked out perfectly except for the small problem of seating. Two of the guests were kind of enough to bring their chairs to help us out.

The turkey hung over the edges a bit, but I was able to catch most of the drippings with tin foil so there wasn't too much of a mess. Jared butchered the turkey, he had no idea what he was doing

For dessert I made a pumpkin pie and apple crisp

Scarlett had a doctors appointment yesterday.
Weight 15.4 lbs
Height 25.6 in (she hasn't grown in length in 3 months)
My goal this months is to fatten Scarlett up in hopes that she will sleep longer than 1 1/2-2 hour stretches at night. The lack of sleep is catching up to me.

Sarajevo, Bosnia
This past weekend we took a 12 hour train to Bosnia. It was a last minute decision, Jared is in between jobs and I usually have nothing going on so we picked the closest place we haven't been yet. The train ride was long, there were no over night ones so we spent all day traveling. We packed our own food, good thing because there was no dining car, by time we arrived we were out of water and very thirsty :)
The first day we checked out old town and took a tour that took us around to all the war sites. The second day we just walked around the city some more, there really wasn't much more to see after our first day, we checked out an exhibit on the siege, it was pretty sad to see pictures of the city getting destroyed and learn how people worked to survive. That night we went to a jazz concert, part of the international jazz festival that was going on. Overall we had a great trip, learned some unfortunate history and had some excellent food..mmm...sausages with yummy bread, bbq veal and pastries filled with meat and cheese.
Tunnel built by the Bosnian army to be able to smuggle in firearms and supplies. Interesting enough we found out that the Serbian army knew about the tunnel the whole time but could not destroy it because on one end it was made out of old bomb shelters, ran under the airport runway and on the other end it was constructed on UN territory.

Unfortunately most of the buildings in Sarajevo look like this one with bullet holes covering them
